Mark Sterbens is undeniably one of the hospitality - gaming industry’s more imaginative hotel and casino managers, making him a valued integrated resort & casino operator. Mr. Sterbens is a long-time associate of R&RHG, who has plans s to retain him for future resort - casino acquisitions they are looking at acquiring in Las Vegas. Mr. Sterbens's background as an innovative, out-of-box thinking senior hotel and gaming industry professional with over 30 years casino - resort industry experience makes him ideally qualified for such an assignment.

Mr. Sterben's distinguished career has earned him a reputation for delivering tight fiscal controls, putting forth a “team leader” management style, and taking a hands-on approach to day-to-day operations. His balanced experience in all aspects of gaming and hotel operations was acquired through broad exposure to all facets of casino, hotel, and riverboat operations which began in 1979 when he joined the once-grand Riviera Hotel & Casino. While at the Riviera he served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, VP of Hotel Operations, Executive Vice President, and President – COO. During his tenure at the Riviera he was responsible for overseeing 2,000 employees, growing the Casino to 125,000 sq. ft. the Hotel to 2,000 rooms and the Convention Center to 160,000 sq. ft.

As President - COO for Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino and Hollywood Park Casino, he successfully led each organization into achieving positive fiscal positions. Par-A-Dice and Hollywood Park highlight include:​

  • Managing the design and construction of a $26m riverboat casino

  • Increasing gaming capacity by 30%

  • Achieving 100% EBITDA growth

  • Guiding the casino into achieving a remarkable 180% growth in EBITDA

 

The proceeding referenced challenging assignments paved the way for Mr. Sterbens to enter into a long-term relationship with Herbst Gaming, Inc that spanned 1999 to 2011. Mr. Sterben's first position with Herbst Gaming was Hotel and Casino General Manager. Subsequently, his role expanded to a VP Regional Manager that encompassed overseeing Casinos and Riverboat Casinos in:

  • St. Joseph, LaGrange, MO

  • Osceola, IA

  • Pahrump and Searchlight, NV

  • Conducted on behalf of Herbst Gaming-related casinos, hotels, and riverboats; project management, design, and construction upgrade budgeting. All expansion efforts were delivered on time, on budget, and with exceptional profitability

  • Performed design and construction for casinos, hotels, and riverboats valued at over $300m   

  • Held gaming licenses in 6 separate jurisdictions including Las Vegas, NV

 

Mr. Sterbens holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from the prestigious University of Nevada, Las Vegas Hospitality College.
