Roland Moritz, CRAFTSMAN

Ronald MoritzRoland Moritz is Co-President and founder of R&R Global and President of R&R Hotel Group. Moritz is a native of Germany. He and gained international experience in several of Europe's most iconic restaurants and hotels before relocating to the United States in the early 70’s.

His career and reputation as a craftsman flourished after completing successful executive assignments for the Marriott Corporation in St. Louis and New Orleans. In 1982 Moritz accepted a position with ITT Sheraton as Los Angeles Area Director of Food and Beverage. While with Sheraton he oversaw dozens of restaurants and helped launch the careers of numerous nationally acclaimed Chefs such as Roy Yamaguchi, founder of Roy’s Asian fusion restaurants, and Gordon Drysdale of Wolfgang Puck fame. Not surprisingly, Moritz is widely recognized as one of the creative influences that inspired the now familiar term, "California Cuisine."

By the mid 80’s Moritz transitioned from F&B into operations and established himself as a “top” operator while managing the Sheraton Universal and Sheraton Premiere Hotels (Now a Hilton). During this period he left ITT Sheraton to accept an executive position with the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was shortly thereafter he teamed up with Russ Dazzio to found R&R Hotel Group. For twenty years Moritz has served as President of R&R Hotel Group, one of the west coast’s most innovative hotel consulting, development and third party management companies.

At R&R, Moritz is responsible for company property operations and financial planning. Moritz put to use a lifetime worth of hospitality experience to transform R&R from a small hotel management group into one of the nation's best hotel "turn around specialists". He is also credited with authoring hundreds of business plans that launched an equal number of successful hotels that all share his trademark of impeccably crafted quality standards.

Most recently, Moritz was primarily responsible at R&R for developing Lions Gate Resort and Conference Center, part of the largest adaptive military conversion ever attempted and acted as key contact for the project’s owners Industrial Realty Group and Morgan Stanley. Over a three year period he led all aspects of planning, design and re-development for over 40 acres of hospitality facilities. After phase I of this assignment was completed Moritz directed on behalf of R&R day to day operations for Lions Gate until it achieved stabilization and customer satisfaction goals thus ending the engagement.

Among his many honors are, the Los Angeles Restaurant Writer’s "Best New Restaurant of the Year Award", the National Restaurant Association’s "Best Menu Award", ITT Sheraton’s “Hotel of the Year Award” and R&R Hotel Group’s “Golden Key Award for Leadership”. Mr. Moritz is a graduate of the Munich Hotel & Restaurant School and St Peters College LCC, London England.
